HP Unveils Services For MySQL

Courtesy of TechWeb News

Hewlett-Packard Co. on Tuesday said it plans to roll out next month consulting, integration and support services for customers implementing the MySQL open source database.

The offerings are part of an agreement with MySQL AB, which distributes and develops the database. Under the deal, HP will provide the services to companies that subscribe to its partner's MySQL Network, which includes certified MySQL software, updates and upgrades, proactive alerts, software advisors, and online knowledgebase and full production-level technical support.

HP plans to sell the services directly in May, and via channel partners in June. The announcement was made at the annual MySQL Users Conference in Santa Clara, Calif.

HP is also incorporating MySQL into its new HP Open Source Middleware Stacks, which offers customers several options for deploying open-source middleware on HP platforms.

Dan Socci, vice president of worldwide marketing and sales for technology services at HP said in a statement that the company was providing a "single point of accountability for customers seeking to integrate and manage MySQL database software in an IT environment."
